Caracterização de uma planta com propriedades hipoglicemiantes - cytisus multiflorus

The olive pomace residue is a material with lignocellulosic features available in the Alentejo region which may be enhanced by the production of ethanol. In the present work a study was developed in order to investigate the influence of the phenolic compounds present in the extracted olive pomace and the water used in their washing after pre-treatment, in the saccharification process of cellulose by the enzymatic complex Celluclast 1.5L. This consortium was characterized in terms of molecular weight of its constituents and their activities: total on filter paper, endogluclanase and cellobiase. Assays were performed with different washing water and enzyme concentrations and an evident reduction in the activity of the cellulase complex in the presence of 100% of washing water was observed. Assays conducted with extracted pomace, revealed a lower cellulase activity in cellulose to glucose conversion comparing to filter paper assays, with no significant differences between washed and unwashed pomace; ABSTRACT: The olive pomace residue is a material with lignocellulosic features available in the Alentejo region which may be enhanced by the production of ethanol.
