Spirituality and Mood: A Study of Midwestern Nursing Home Residents

As the elderly population continues to grow, more and more people begin to enter into nursing home facilities. Some depend on spirituality as a coping mechanism. The purpose of this research study is to discover if a relationship is present between spirituality and mood in Midwestern nursing home residents. Comparisons will be made between spiritual and non-spiritual residents in both faith-based and secular nursing homes. Surveys will be used to determine the subject\u27s spiritual well-being and his or her life satisfaction level. Results from this study will provide helpful information that could affect future techniques of care for nursing home residents
