Now polycarbonates are widely used in different areas which range from sunglasses to optical equipment because of their special optical properties. Also, they have other fascinating properties such as high glass transition temperature and high refractive index. In order to explore new materials, this research was concentrated on synthesizing and testing novel polycarbonates. Using a variety of synthetic methods, we obtained the polycarbonates by cautiously heating mixed solution of indicators and triphosgene (or phosgene). After cooling the samples, the solvent, chloroform, was distilled away. Then, attempts were made to cast films.
