The purpose of the following study has been to consider Shakespeare\u27s interpretation of the Troilus and Cressida love story. Like many of the world\u27s greatest writers, Shakespeare was content to breathe new life into old tales which had been handed down through the ages. In order to understand and appreciate his attitude toward this particular love story, it was first necessary to trace and examine, in a comparative way, the many adaptations of the same story which already existed
