[[abstract]]This paper examines the results of patenting and licensing activities in Taiwanese higher education institutions (HEIs) during 1997~2001. We propose a framework to analyze the influence of a university's internal IP management and external industrial co-operation on her knowledge and wealth creation. Through a postal questionnaire survey, all 122 HEIs in Taiwan were surveyed. The empirical results demonstrate that the IP management capability and university-industry partnership have substantially increased the amounts of the academic patents and licensing incomes.
