[[abstract]]Atomic arrangements and the chemical nature of the active species in metal, acid or zeolite, and metal oxide catalysts are determined by extended X-ray absorption fine structure/X-ray absorption near edge structure investigations. The quantitative analysis of the properties of solid catalysts by this X-ray techniques helped the understanding of heterogeneous catalysis down to the molecular level. The coordination symmetry and oxidation state of the metal ions on metallozeolites and metal oxide catalysts are analyzed.[[fileno]]2010323010006[[department]]化學
