It is a matter of conventional wisdom that women candidates have more trouble than their male counterparts in obtaining campaign resources (Carroll 1985, 84-86; Mcglen and O\u27Connor 1995). But conventional wisdom does not always square with reality. Given the rise of women in state legislative politics, and renewed interest in campaign financing procedures, it is surprising that so little has been written about the issue of gender and campaign funding.
