PAINT SYSTEMS ON GALVANIZED STEEL USED IN SALT-LADEN ATMOSPHERES .2.

[[abstract]]THE PAINT on some newly-installed pylons on the Penhu Islands failed in an atmosphere that was both humid and heavily laden with sea salts. The failure was carefully analysed by measuring the adhesive strength of the coating; samples taken from the stripped paint films and from the underlying zinc layer were examined using x-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analyses. In the first part of this paper, published in the February, 1995, issue of Corrosion Prevention and Control, the authors described the laboratory tests which were performed on five paint systems applied to galvanized steel, and discussed the paint-falure analyis. The second part of the paper goes on to describe the results of atmospheric-corrosion, accelerated-corrosion, and abrasion-resistance tests, along with a-c impedance measurements, observations from which are used by the authors as a basis for their conclusions.[[fileno]]2020334010046[[department]]材料
