[[abstract]]Generally, a single layer of TiN cannot protect the corrosion of carbon steel substrate in salt spray testing. It was found, however, in this study that the general corrosion attack on TiN-coated low-carbon steel substrate can be prevented through the employment of electroless nickel interlayer-modified TiN coating. This presents a potential and promising application of surface modification techniques in TiN coating carbon steel. Although localized corrosion might be present for long periods of salt spray testing, it is argued that this problem can be solved by the introduction of an appropriate control in the fabrication of a uniform electroless nickel interlayer[[fileno]]2020323010134[[department]]材料科學工程學
