[[abstract]]work-holding configuration analysis procedure is developed for the verification of fixtures. First, the finite element analysis (FEA) approach is used to estimate the dynamic stress-strain behavior of a work-piece when machining forces and clamping forces are applied. Then, a mathematical optimization model is formulated to minimize the deformation of a workpiece under the corresponding force effects for a feasible configuration. The optimization model consists of several constraints to ensure the rigidity and stability of work-holding and to guarantee the precision and accuracy of machining results.
