Effects of Lining on Garment Appearance and Wearing Comfort in Straight Skir

The relationships between garment appearance or wearing comfort and skirt length were investigated to control the measurement of clothes properly. 196 kinds of straight skirts differed in skirt length and circumference at hemline were made up of cotton， nylon and rayon fabrics. 3women of similar hip size wore these skirts，and judged them with regard to garment appearance，tightness，comfort and the need of a slit or pleat. Among these skirts with the same circumference at hemline，th ere was no significant difference in garment appearance while being worn. However，the wearer did not favor the longer skirts of thick fabrics. The subjective assessment of skirts at bottom area was influenced by the length. The longer the skirt length，the more tight the wearer felt. Whether the wearer felt the need of as lit or pleat in as kirt depended on the motion of the legs，th e fabric properties，the skirt length and the circumference at hem1ine
