The Beheavior of KCI powder in Crnpression

KCl tablet crystal is obtained when dried powder is compressed. Writers observed the etched surface of the tablet crystal in order to study deformation and fracture of the partic1e and the followings are obtaied. (1) A new etching method is tested，with which various shapes of etched patterns and the grain boundary can be c1early observed. (2) Three types of the simple model of deformation and fracture are discussed and it is found that the model is wel1 fit to simple beheavior of the partic1e in compressing process. (3) Introducing new three shape parameters (linear，curvilinear and zigzag) for two crystals，direct neighbour to the grain boundary，various shapes of the grain boundary are objectively explained
