Spectroscopic Features of Mechanical Defect-Colonies in KCl Single CrystaIs

When KCl single crystal is grown by rapid cooling of the melt， the crystal c1eaves naturaly into fragments， in which various mechanical defect-colonies (MD) and spectroscopic ones (SD) appear. In the present paper we obtained the following results :(1) When MD and SD coexist，the different MD correspond to the respective SD， for example the SD of the sborter spectroscopic wavelength apper at the MD generated by a greater stress. (2) The visual shape of the step 1ines， one of the MD， depends much on their orientations， for example the 1ine is smooth along the <100> direction，but wavy near the <110> direction
