In high-rise buildings with the core wall system, the axial load of the core wall is very high under the action of a diagonal seismic force. Particularly the area near the corner of the core wall is subject to high compressive stress. Reinforcing these areas is therefore considered effective in improving the deformation capacity of the core walls. In this paper, the lateral loading tests of core walls were analyzed using three-dimensional nonlinear finite element method. As a result of analysis, the influence of confinement effect of concrete at the area near the corner of the core walls to the vertical curvature distribution, stress distribution of concrete, and deformation capacity was shown
