An ElectroMagnetic engine Valve (EMV) has received a great deal of attention due to the growing importance of issues such as fuel economy and environmental protection in the automotive. We study on the design of the structure of the linear actuator and the positioning controller for the EMV in order to realize the EMV. Conventionally, we realized the linear actuator and the positioning controller for the EMV. But, the mechanical and the electrical characteristics of the EMV are changing over a long time. Therefore, an adaptive controller is required in order to compensate deterioration of control performances.
