Performance of step clinbing is an important function of wheelchairs. Authors have proposed the dynamical model of step climbing mechanism, and derived the epuation with respect to the equation with respect to the force needed for climbing a step. In addition, suthors manufactured a multi-function wheelchair equipped with power unit, step-climbing mechanism and chair-elevating mechanism. Conparisons between the measured forces for climbing a step and calculated results are in good agreement with the trend
