Framework for reflective practice

The skill of reflective practice is recognised as a graduate attribute by many Australian universities. The Australian Physiotherapy Council (APC) defines reflective practice as an ‘intentional and skilled activity in which a person analyses and describes his or her thoughts, actions, feelings, and behaviours and makes judgements about their effectiveness’ (Australian Physiotherapy Council 2006). The use of personal knowledge enhances the ability to reflect and promotes the development of critical thinking to assist with clinical decision making in many disciplines (Plack et al. 2007)
