publisherOhshima, Shigeru[Abstract] A new holographic optical element (HOE) for optical fiber communication systems has been investigated. The HOE is formed during irradiation light from an optical fiber and a laser diode (LD). An optical coupling system from an LD to a single mode fiber is composed without aligning the fiber. The cost of the LD module will be drastically reduced because there is no fiber alignment process. However, the optical coupling efficiency from the LD to the fiber using the HOE has never been calculated. We have shown the optical efficiency and its improvement method in this paper.
