The University of Notre Dame Australia\u27s, Sydney School of Medicine hosted its second national research conference for the year at the end of April. At the beginning of the semester the School conducted a rural research symposium in the country town of Lithgow. This recent conference was held at the University’s Darlinghurst site and addressed the impact of the new Human Genome Project (HGP) (a worldwide study on genes in human DNA) and its approach to fighting diseases. The keynote speaker was Professor John Shine, Director of the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Sydney.
