DVC puts Student President in \u27hot seat\u27 at latest Theology on Tap

The University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Hayden Ramsay put Student President, Patrick Langrell, in the ‘hot seat’ at the latest Theology on Tap (TOT). The TOT series was founded by Patrick in August 2007. It is a forum for the young people of Sydney to meet and discuss Catholic issues in an informal atmosphere. The event is held on the first Monday of each month at PJ’s Gallagher’s Irish Pub, Parramatta. Professor Ramsay interviewed Patrick in front of an audience of about 500 on questions facing young Catholics. Topics included the public square, life issues, witness, personal vocation, World Youth Day 2008 and a review of past TOTs. “I was asked some tough questions by Professor Ramsay, but he really gave me the chance to look deeply into the drama of Christian living and the daily tension of making the gap smaller between who we are now and who we are called to be. “We also discussed how the drama and witness of the Christian life runs \u27against the grain\u27, but provides an opportunity for young people to be ‘ambassadors of hope’ and ‘signs of contradiction’ to the modern world,” said Patrick. Professor Ramsay said it was a great night and a great ‘Theology on Tap moment’. “Patrick reflected on TOT, faith, vocation and being a young Catholic today. I was deeply proud of Patrick and of the other Notre Dame students who attend faithfully. TOT has given heart to all Australian Catholics,” said Professor Ramsay.
