Outstanding staff and students recognised on Notre Dame\u27s Broome Campus

Excellence in teaching and learning, and outstanding academic results were celebrated at The University of Notre Dame Australia’s annual Broome Campus Awards ceremony held at the end of April. In addition to the Vice Chancellor’s Award for undergraduate students, this year staff were recognised for their excellence in teaching and learning. Associate Dean of Nursing, Broome Campus, Sally Clark, Sister Jennifer Farrell sgs and Donnelle Perry won the inaugural Vice Chancellor’s Team Award which acknowledged their ‘Innovation in Curricula, Resources and Approaches to Student Learning’. The team has been integral to the success of the University’s new use of web-based technology to support teaching on the Broome Campus. The Vice Chancellor’s student awards recognise undergraduate students who have attained outstanding academic results. This year the School of Education Award was won by Sharon Davis. Ms Davis is a second year student studying a Bachelor of Education K-7. In 2010, Ms Davis achieved a grade point average of 3.74 from the maximum possible score of 4.0. She completed 10 graded units which resulted in eight High Distinctions and two Distinctions. Professor Henderson-Yates said she was delighted that both staff and students’ achievements had been acknowledged by the University. “The new technology supports face-to-face teaching and offers students a rich state-of-the-art learning environment linking them to expert and experienced staff across our national University,” Professor Henderson-Yates said. “The Vice Chancellor’s awards demonstrate the high teaching standards of the Broome Campus staff and the University’s ability to respond to the education and research needs of a rapidly growing regional area of the State.” Media Contact: Professor Lyn Henderson-Yates (08) 9192 063
