Some comparative physiological studies on growth and development in the early and late strains of einkorn wheat (I) : Growth and flowering of the early and late strains in aseptic culture

[Author abstract]The early and late strains of einkorn wheat were cultured on the basal media containing White's minerals and different concentrations of sucrose and yeast extracts (YE) in test tubes under different light and temperature conditions. The shoot growth in dry weight of both strains were greatly accelerated by addition of high level of YE, while their flowering were inhibited significantly. The flowering of the late strain was much inhibited than those of the early strain in the media containing YE but it was as much accelerated as the early strain in the media without YE under weak artificial total illumination, thus suggesting some antagonism between vegetative and reproductive growth.[著者抄録]1粒系コムギの早生系と晩生系を試験管内に無菌培養し,培地の養分条件,特にショ糖と酵母抽出物(YE)の添加,光および温度条件を異にする場合の,両系統の花霞と生長反応を比較した。1.早生系は晩生系にくらべ生育がすみやかであり,高濃度のショ類とYEを含む培地上で,およそ1ケ月早く花成が進行した。またこの時点で,早生系は日長の増加に量的に反応して花成を促進させ,100パーセントの花芽分比率は早生系では12時間以上の長日で示されるのに対し,晩生系では20時間以上を必要とした。2.YE添加により,両系統とを地上部乾物重は明らかに増加したが、その程長は早生系が晩生系よりも大であった。これは花成を含む生率の違いによる養分利用の差に起因すると考えられる。3. YE1%添加により,両系統ともにその花成は,いちじるしく抑制された。ただし,種子培養の場合,16時間の日長下で,晩生系はYE添加により,完全にその花成を抑制されたが早生糸はほとんど抑制されなかった。また胚培養すると,連読光下で早生糸は花芽分化率が約60%,晩生系では100%抑制された。4.白熱電球を含む蛍光灯照明を与えると,蛍光灯のみの場合にくらべて,連続照明下で,早生糸はその花成反応はほとんど変らなかったが,晩生系ではいちじるしい促進がみられた。しかし茎長や地上部乾物重は両系統とも白熱電球による照明区の方が大であった。5. YEを含まず糖を含む基本培地上で,比較的弱史(400～1,500 lx )の人工照明(連続光)のみを与えると,晩生系は、強光の自然日長を補充して通続史とした場合にくらべて、いちじるしくその花成,特に花芽分化が促進され,全体として早生系のそれに近い状態を示した。6.以上の結果は,試験管内培養というきわめて制約的な条件において,栄養生長と生殖生長の桔抗性が,特に早生系よりも花成の抑制機構が強く働いていると思われる晩生糸において,顕著にあらわれることを示すものである
