Dental management of children with hearing impairment

The dental health of disabled (special) children is very important for several reasons. These children may have associated medical problems in addition to their primary condition and an oral or dental problem may further compromise their general health. A poor dental health and esthetics may damage their psychological status, which is already compromised in many of these children. It is the part of a dentist's professional responsibility to provide dental treatment and prevention services to special children in the community he/she works. The dental management of children with sensory disabilities such as blindness and deafness is a challenging but very rewarding experience.
