Many advanced research areas including defense, weather forecasting, signal processing, image and pattern recognition use advanced parallel processing systems to perform extensive data processing. However, since the complexity of the above applications are constantly on the rise, the intensity of simulation, modeling and data processing would introduce additional and significantly increasing load on existing parallel processing systems which results in speed being a determining factor. To this end, we observe that many researchers introduce new architectures to satisfy the market expectations which includes improvements on speed, reliability, fault tolerance, flexibility, compatibility, availability, cost and size of the existing systems.
