This paper introduces a novel framework and methodologies which are capable of tackling the complex issue of power system economy versus security in a practical and effective manner. At heart of achieving such a challenging and far-reaching objective is the incorporation of the Dynamic Security Assessment (DSA) into production optimization techniques using the Transient Energy Function (TEF) method.
