Though Cu+ is thermodynamically unstable in NaF, it has been introduced into this host crystal. The initial stage of its conversion into Cu0 and Cu2+ has been investigated. EPR of copper clusters and of a tetragonal Cu2+---NNN Schottky-vacancy complex was observed. An optical absorption band associated with this latter one was found
