The authors study the chemical composition (crude nutritive principles) of some species of the Mediterranean climax. The studied species are grasses, shrubs, trees and fruits of the Mediterranean flora, that integrase the diets of wildlife and domestic ruminants. The highest value for protein concentration were recorded for Medicago maculata (19.17%) and Capsella bursa–pastoris (19.14%), and lowest for Briza maxima (5.56%) and Viburnum tinus (4.88%). Digestibility of cell–wall is variable and depend on lignification, silicification, and other factors.
