Seven formations of Miocene to Holocene age were identified on Mayaguana (SE Bahamas), four of which are new. The four oldest stratigraphic units occur along the north coast and form a succession <12 m thick spanning 17 Ma (accumulation rate of 0.6 m/Ma). The exposed Plio-Pleistocene boundary is at +3 m there, but at depths around 10 m elsewhere. The youngest units are evenly distributed throughout the island. Eight relative sea levels all <10 m apsl were determined which is surprising considering the difference in Neogene and Quaternary sea-level stands.
