Transdermal iontophoresis enables the controlled, non-invasive administration of peptide therapeutics. The aims of this study were (i) to evaluate the effect of amino acid sequence and the spatial distribution of peptide physicochemical properties on electrotransport, and (ii) to develop a quantitative model to predict peptide transport rates. Experimental results showed that the distribution of molecular properties over the peptide surface significantly affected iontophoretic delivery: different arrangements of the same residues resulted in different transport behavior.
