This manuscript is devoted to the display and the analysis of the three-dimensional morphological image data, to the fusion of information provided by a same imaging device but acquired at different times, and to the matching between functional signals and anatomical descriptions.The first chapter reviews the literature dealing with the acquisition and the modeling of 3D primitives in medical imaging. Several techniques available for the representation of primitives and multivariate functions are reported on the second chapter.A new conceptual framework, so called "Multifunction Ray Tracing", for 3D medical image rendering and analysis is then proposed.
