The "Orleans" was built by Carrier, Lane and Company at Levis, Quebec in 1898 for the Compagna Martineet Industrial De Levis of Quebec City. In 1916, the "Orleans" was bought by the Buffalo and Fort Erie Steamship Company. Four years later, the vessel was sold to the Niagara Ferry and Transportation Company. From 1927 to 1931, she was under the ownership of the New York Ontario Ferries of Buffalo, New York. From 1931 until her demise in 1955, the "Orleans" was owned by Charles Fix of Grand Island, New York. In 1955, while laid up at the Fix Dock in Grand Island, the vessel was damaged by ice. She was scrapped that same year
