International audiencePURPOSE: Different lines of evidence suggest that the insular cortex has many important functional roles. Direct electrical stimulation (ES) of the human insular cortex during surgical procedures for epilepsy, functional imaging techniques, and lesion studies also occasionally induces clinical responses.
