Se han perforado por rotación 8 sondeos hasta alcanzar el sustrato precuaternario en la marisma de Txipio (Estuario del Butroe, Vizcaya) con el objetivo de reconstruir su proceso de transformación ambiental durante el Holoceno. Se ha realizado un análisis micropaleontológico (foraminíferos bentónicos), sedimentológico (tamaño de grano) y geoquímico (dataciones carbono-14) de sus materiales.
