Advances in Ludomusical Experience Profiling:Interindividual Differences in the Immersive Experience of Music in Video Games

Just like in music listening there is reason to believe that the processing of music in interactive media varies as a function of situational settings. While prior efforts have examined experiences related to music exposure in various real and virtual scenarios, little is known about the perceptual relevance of situation and its awareness. The present study intends to set a first step to investigate the correlation between processing styles related to trait music empathizing and immersive tendency with experienced emotion and spatial presence in a video game. The obtained results point towards the involvement of differing sub attentional processing styles along expressive congruency as experienced in low and high arousing music material as well as situational demands set by the game
