This paper describes a wireless real-time communication system design using two Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) protocols. Messages are subject to prioritization and queuing. For this interoperation scenario, we show a method for end-to-end configuration of protocols and queue sizes. Such configuration meets requirements on probability of message delivery and deadlines for real-time data. We provide a closed-form expression to calculate viable configurations for lossy environments, and apply it to IEEE 802.11 and XBee 868 MHz technologies for contended channel conditions. Simulation shows the expected performance of additional lower prioritized traffic
