As the number of people immigrating to the United States of America increases, so too does the richness of U.S. American culture. However, research is lacking focusing on the impact race and race-related problems have on African and African-descent immigrants and their personal identities. The following research study investigates the influence of U.S. acculturation and Igbo acculturation on black racial identity attitudes of first generation and second generation Ibos of Nigeria living in the U.S. Results of the study indicated differences exist between first generation and second generation Ibos on levels of U.S. and Igbo acculturation, first generation Ibos were more likely to identify as being American rather than being a part of the bl...
