This paper presents a new torque optimization algorithm to maximize the torque generated by an SRM drive. The new algorithm uses a predictive strategy. The behaviour of the SRM demands a sequential algorithm. To preserve the advantages of SRM drives (simple and rugged topology) the new algorithm uses a predictive strategy. This predictive strategy complies with the sequential operation of SRM. The new algorithm involves a low cost implementation and works with both sensor based and sensorless rotor position measurementtechniques.
