Each company has to invest in manufacturing management programs, methods andtechnologies in order to remain competitive. Previous studies, however, rarely took intoaccount how the size and geographical focus of a business unit affect the relationshipbetween manufacturing practices and performance. This paper analyzes the relationshipbetween size, geographical focus, their effects on the use of manufacturing managementprograms, and their link to performance. Based on an international survey, we foundsignificant characteristics among companies of different size and scope of operations.</p
