Udgivelsesdato: JulyThis paper is concerned with investigating whether the insights from the strategic management literature can be applied to revitalize so-called mature and declining industries. In line with this literature, the paper argues that the cause of the mature industries’ challenges should be found in how once strong core competencies have been transformed into core rigidities. Core rigidities inhibit implementing the required changes. The paper suggests that the development of new and radically alternative visions is crucial for moving out of the ‘lock-in’-situation; a situation and a challenge the literature has not paid sufficient attention to.
