Agriculture and protection of landscape area of the White Carpathians

"The protected landscape area of the White Carpathians in Czech Republic is confronted with several threats. The protection of the landscape involves instituted policies and restrictions on production. Due to the approaching EU accession and the possible subsequent institutional changes, there is an increased demand for knowledge on production opportunities and threats. In addition there are immediate concerns on the relation between agricultural production and the environment. One major concern is the abandonment of agricultural land. In this article the combination of production elements and protection is described. Factor analyses are used to identify groups of farms with similarities in production structure and organisation. The results of the factor analysis are compared to typology achieved by interviews. Some important elements with policy and research implications are derived." (author's abstract)Das Landschaftsschutzgebiet der weißen Karpaten in der Tschechischen Republik ist einigen Gefahren ausgesetzt. Der Schutz der Landschaft bedingt politische Maßnahmen und Beschränkungen für die Produktion. Wegen des nahenden EU-Beitritts und den möglichen daraus folgenden institutionellen Veränderungen, gibt es eine erhöhte Nachfrage nach Wissen über Produktionsmöglichkeiten und -gefahren. Darüber hinaus gibt es einen Bedarf hinsichtlich der Beziehungen zwischen landwirtschaftlicher Produktion und Umwelt. Ein Hauptinteresse ist die Aufgabe von Ackerland. In diesem Artikel wird die Kombination von Produktionselementen und Landschaftsschutz beschrieben. Es werden Faktoranalysen herangezogen, um Gruppen von Bauernhöfen mit ähnlichen Produktionsstrukturen und ähnlicher Produktionsorganisation zu ermitteln. Die Ergebnisse der Faktoranalyse werden mit der Typologie verglichen, die durch Interviews erzielt wurde. Einige wichtige Elemente, die politische und forschungsrelevante Implikationen nach sich ziehen, werden abgeleitet. (ICDÜbers
