"Der Beitrag beabsichtigt einige Aspekte der Postmoderne in Bezug auf das Phänomen des von Werbung durchdrungenen Lebens zu verdeutlichen. Es wird argumentiert, dass Baudrillard's Theorie der politischen Ökonomie des Zeichens verwendet werden kann, um zu verstehen wie Werbung funktioniert. Trotzdem gibt diese Theorie keine Anknüpfungspunkte hinsichtlich der Entwicklung einer kritisch-ethischen Perspektive für die Werbung. Fruchtbarer sind hingegen die postmodernen Philosophien von Derrida und Lyotard, die Ingredienzen liefern für ein 'Gegengift' zu einer Kommerzialisierung der Kultur."
