This paper is an offspring from the research project Town, Road and Landscape held by Aalborg University in corporation with the Danish Road Directorate and The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University. The projects first phase focuses on the effect on the Danish motorway network on urbanization and spatial interaction patterns in the last 20 years. This paper presents results on how the building of the motorway network has shaped spatial interactions patterns in Denmark over a ten year period. The question asked is how travel time reductions and changing motorway access is related to change in the commute pattern.
