[Abstract] This paper sets out to identify the semantic and syntactic context of change-of-state verbs, taking into account both their argument and syntactic structure, in order to pave the way to the establishment of robust lexicographical criteria in accordance with the particular constructions that are characteristic of such verbs. We will also illustrate the inadequacy of certain verb definitions in order to demonstrate the need to specify verbal arguments and syntactic behaviour.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad; FFI2011-23064/FILOXunta de Galicia; CN2012/29
