In the article, the traction transmission of modern STADLER KISS trains is studied. The study of the effect of the technical level of the traction transmission on the braking characteristics of the train is discussed. The application of an innovative traction reducer is proposed, which allows to increase the result indicator according to the unit consumption of the traction transmission. Taking the reduction of the mass of the proposed thrust reducer as one of the main factors shaping the effect on the braking system, the possibility of reducing the inertia coefficient of the rotating parts and the technical parameters considered in the equation of motion of the train is shown.
