The use of the Internet has a ten-year history in Hungary. In the beginning, users were surfing on textual websites with the browser Lynx (1991), then a range of graphic browsers appeared: Mosaic (1993), Netscape (1994), and finally Internet Explorer (1995). More and more institutions, including libraries decided to enter the World Wide Web with their own homepage. The past ten years have brought enormous changes and new requirements in the way that institutional homepages are designed.
