Introduction: Caries in early childhood is very common since there are different risk factors such as diet that are possible contributors to the appearance of dental caries in childhood. Design: A systematic review of studies that were evaluated was carried out, which were published between 2015 and 2021. Data sources: A search was performed through PubMed. The eligibility criteria were articles that used: diagnostic criteria for carious teeth, with indication of extracted and filled (ceo-d) criteria used by the World Health Organization (WHO) with calibrated examiners, probabilistic sampling and sample sizes.
