TYPE AND FUNCTION OF CODE-SWITCHING IN SOPHIA LATJUBA’S LANGUAGE ON DEDDY CORBUZIER’S PODCAST

ABSTRACT This research examines the use of code-switching by Sophia Latjuba in a podcast video entitled “Sophia Latjuba – Gue Masih Butuh Lakik” on Deddy Corbuzier YouTube channel. The purpose of this study is to analyze the type of code-switching used by Sophia Latjuba and to find out the reason why Sophia Latjuba switched her code while in conversation with Deddy Corbuzier. The data of the research were taken from Sophia Latjuba’s utterances in the Podcast on Deddy Corbuzier’s Youtube channel. In doing the research, the researcher analyzes the data by using the theory by Poplack about three different types of code-switching and the theory by Hoffman about five different possible reasons why people decided to use code-switching in their utterances. The method of this research is qualitative method and observation is used to find the code-switching in Sophia Latjuba’s utterances. The result of this research found that the most frequent type used is the inter-sentential and the most dominant reason found in the research is talking about a particular topic. This study is intended to be useful as a resource to those interested in learning and conducting research on code-switching. Keywords: code-switching, types, reasons, Podcast, Sophia Latjuba ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengkaji penggunaan alih kode oleh Sophia Latjuba dalam video podcast berjudul “Sophia Latjuba – Gue Masih Butuh Lakik” di kanal YouTube Deddy Corbuzier. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis jenis alih kode yang digunakan oleh Sophia Latjuba dan untuk mengetahui alasan Sophia Latjuba melakukan alih kode saat berbicara dengan Deddy Corbuzier. Data penelitian diambil dari ucapan Sophia Latjuba dalam Podcast di kanal Youtube Deddy Corbuzier. Dalam melakukan penelitian, peneliti menganalisis data dengan menggunakan teori dari Poplack tentang tiga jenis alih kode dan teori dari Hoffman tentang lima kemungkinan alasan yang berbeda mengapa orang memutuskan untuk menggunakan alih kode dalam ucapan mereka. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dan observasi digunakan untuk menemukan alih kode dalam tuturan Sophia Latjuba. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa jenis yang paling sering digunakan adalah inter-sentential dan intra-sentential switching dan alasan paling dominan yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk membicarakan topik tertentu. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat bermanfaat sebagai sumber bagi pembaca yang berminat mempelajari dan melakukan penelitian tentang alih kode bahasa.
