The article discusses efforts to regulate the legal situation of the Orthodox Church in the Lublin district and the reconstructions of its parishes. This issue is only a narrow part of its history in this area and at the same time in the General Government. However, it allows us to understand what the potential of the Orthodox Church looked like at that time, in what circumstances it had to function and what was the attitude of the occupation authorities towards it. The state of the organizational structure of the Orthodox Church was directly related to the Ukrainian question in the Chełm region and Southern Podlasie, and at the same time in the General Government, as it reflected its demographic potential, religious and institutional background.W artykule omówiono starania uregulowania sytuacji prawnej Kościoła prawosławnego na terenie dystryktu lubelskiego oraz rozbudowę jego struktury parafialnej. Zagadnienie to jest jedynie wycinkiem z jego dziejów na tym terenie i zarazem w Generalnym Gubernatorstwie. Pozwala nam jednak zrozumieć – i nie tylko to – jak prezentował się ówczesny potencjał Kościoła prawosławnego, w jakich okolicznościach musiał funkcjonować i jaki był stosunek do niego władz okupacyjnych. Stan struktury organizacyjnej Kościoła prawosławnego był bezpośrednio związany z kwestią ukraińską na Chełmszczyźnie i Południowym Podlasiu i zarazem w Generalnym Gubernatorstwie, odzwierciedlał bowiem jej potencjał demograficzny, zaplecze religijne i instytucjonalne
