This paper describes the increase in Indonesia's defense budget from year to year as a result of the Security Dilemma and Arms Race that occurred in the Southeast Asian region. During the cold war era, security in the Southeast Asian region was guaranteed by the two superpowers, namely the United States and the Soviet Union. A kind of bias happened in this region, when the cold war ended, European countries committed to lowering their military budgets, and the opposite happened in Southeast Asia.
