Kenaikan Anggaran Pertahanan Indonesia, Sebagai Dampak Dari Security Dilemma Dan Arms Race Di Kawasan Asia Tenggara

This paper describes the increase in Indonesia's defense budget from year to year as a result of the Security Dilemma and Arms Race that occurred in the Southeast Asian region. During the cold war era, security in the Southeast Asian region was guaranteed by the two superpowers, namely the United States and the Soviet Union. A kind of bias happened in this region, when the cold war ended, European countries committed to lowering their military budgets, and the opposite happened in Southeast Asia. After the end of the cold war and the absence of security guarantees from the two countries, Southeast Asian countries began to aggressively increase their military budgets and defense capabilities, resulting in a Security Dilemma and Arm Race in this region. In particular, Indonesia experienced an increase in the military budget from year to year, starting from 2007 amounting to Rp. 32 T to 2017 108 T and this year 2022 is 137 T. The increase in military and defense budgets has also occurred in all ASEAN countries, this is clear evidence of the Security dilemma and Arm Race in the Southeast Asian region. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research by describing all phenomena of research problems empirically. This study aims to explain and analyze thedynamics of the Security Dilemma and Arm Race that occurred in the Southeast Asia region, as well as Indonesia's involvement in this phenomenon so as to increase the defense budget every year
