En la Edad Media, el concepto de honor surgirá para generar poder y protegerlo mediante alianzas. De esta manera, a la luz de la evolución histórica de conceptos como reputación y honor, y de su tratamiento jurisprudencial, se concluye que es pertinente diferenciar la defensa del honor y la defensa de la buena reputación entre la figura de la injuria y la figura de la difamación
